Sunday 18 December – Little Ginini – M/M

Some of the best views in the ACT are from the top of Mt Ginini. Little Ginini however is rarely climbed, probably because of its tree cover, which may have now been burnt down. Propose to walk to Little Ginini and then Mt Ginini afterwards. Mainly on track but some off track. Map: Corin Dam 1:25000 Leader: Roger E Transport: ~$15

Tuesday Evening 20 December – Kambah Pool Swim/Tea – S/E

Meet at the Kambah Pool carpark by 6:00pm. We'll walk down the steps to Kambah Pool and go to the left (south) of where all the public sit. People can swim, laze around and share Chrissy food and wine. There is no need to book; just turn up with food and wine/beer/?? Note that Tuesday evening walks will resume in February, as the leader will be unavailable during January. Map: Phone Book Map 77 A16 Leader: Janet E Transport: drive yourself

Thursday Evening 22 December – Kowen Forest – S/E

Go down Sutton Road about 1½ km from its intersection with Pialligo Rd and Yass Rd to the Kowen Rd. Go down Kowen Rd until the junction where the road to Molonglo Gorge goes off to the right. There is a car park on the left. We will do a loop walk through the forest, some interesting views. No need to book. Start time 6:30pm. Sunday 25 December – Christmas Day Lunch

All CBC members and their friends are invited to the traditional picnic lunch (BYO) on Springbank Island, Lake Burley Griffin. Meet at midday at the lakeside end of Lawson Circuit, Acton Peninsula. The plan is to row/sail/canoe over to the island for a leisurely feast. Contact Doug W for further information and please let him know if you will be bringing a boat of some type, which can be used to ferry the party to the Island.

27-31 December – Cobberas 1 and 2, Victoria – M/M

Just across the Victorian border much scenic country offers many good walks. This one visits a high range with big views back to the Main Range and a little view of the ti-tree where the Murray River starts. Map: Jacobs River 1:100000 Leader: Rupert B Transport: ~$100 Limit: 8

27 December - 1 January – Charlottes Pass: Kosciusko Alpine Flowers

Spend all week or just a few days exploring and walking among magnificent alpine flowers, or join us for the final firework celebration for the New Year. Self catering lodge accommodation is available at Charlottes Pass (double $42/night; single $35/night). Members will be able to organise their own day trips to Mt Stillwell, Kosciuszko, Twynham, Rainbow Lake, etc to suit the weather. Please contact the organiser early so that bookings can be confirmed. Map: Kosciuszko 1:25000 Organiser: Doug W Transport: ~$35 plus KNP entry fee

27 December - 1 January – Genoa River – M/R/W

Relax for the Christmas/New Year break on the Genoa River with relatively easy days and plenty of swimming and sitting around drinking tea. There will be an optional side trip to a prominent peak. Suitable for walkers of average fitness. Map: Nungatta and Yambulla 1:25000 Leader: Rene D and Keith T Transport: ~$40 Limit: 8

(28) 29 December - 1 January – Kosciuszko NP: The Brassies – M/M/X

A trip to the seldom-visited eastern edge of the High Country. Explore interesting-sounding places like The Brassies, Dog Peak, Mt Porcupine and Disappointment Spur, plus visit Tin, Kidmans and Boltons Huts. Shortish days to allow time for exploration along the way. I have only visited a small part of this region before. Note: Fuel stoves only Maps: Kosciuszko, Khancoban 1:50000 Leader: Lauraine R Transport: ~$35 plus Park entry Limit: 8 Bookings: by Friday 23 December

Saturday 31 December – Namadgi NR: Tower Rocks - Trojan Wall – S/R

Near Honeysuckle Creek, a very short walk along a ridge in and out of massive granite boulders with caves, tunnels, crevasses and balconies. Much scrambling, but I don't plan on anything too hard. We explore some areas missed in the trip last February. The walk is all over 1250m altitude, and should therefore be somewhat cooler than Canberra. Map: Corin Dam 1:25000 Leader: Jeff B Transport: ~$10 Limit: 12

1-4 January – Little River Gorge, Snowy River NP, Victoria – S/R/W

Soon after the Snowy River enters Victoria it is joined from the west by the varied gorge of the Little River. It contains some attractive waterfalls, only one compulsory (short) swim, a beautiful patch of rain forest where the Wulgulmerang Creek (sometimes) drops in from 700m above, and perhaps rock wallabies. The walk follows my Cobberas trip, with New Year's Eve by the cars. Come along for either or both walks. Map: Murrindal 1:100000 Leader: Rupert B Transport: ~$70 Limit: 8

Sunday 8 January – Wadbilliga NP: Tuross Falls – M/M

Walk on track to a vantage point above Tuross Falls before descending through bush to the top of the falls. Walk upstream to a superb secluded pool, with an optional side trip to a vantage point looking down the gorge. Map: Belowra 1:25000 Leader: Allan M Transport: ~$24

7-8 January – Morton NP: Budawangs - Corang Lagoon – M/M(R)

We’ll start and finish at Wog Wog car park. Walk to the Corang Lagoon through some impressive rolling country, with some fine rocky outcrops. Pitch camp besides the lagoon and go swimming, read and perhaps even explore the surrounding country. Return via the same route. Map: Corang 1:25000 Leader: John K Transport: ~$25 Limit: 8

Wednesday 11 January – Wednesday Walk

The regular mid-week walk series continues, close to Canberra with a destination to be decided. Contact the leader before 8:00pm Tuesday to find out destination and meeting place. Leader: Allan M
