Cloning an activity

The ‘Clone’ action allows you to copy one of your activities and turn it into a new activity offer.  It is intended to save you typing.

Cloning a past activity

Usually, the activity you want to Clone will be a past activity i.e. a Cancelled, Checked-in or Trip-Report-Posted activity. Follow these steps:

  1. Activity Status
  2. Select Activity View > Archived Activities > Search
  3. Look down the list to find the activity you wish to Clone. The list is ordered by Start Date.
  4. Hit the ‘Clone’ action button, which displays to the right of the activity name
  5. The System will display an Edit Screen, with the activity dates blank but with all the other detail copied
  6. Insert the dates
  7. Edit the other detail if you wish
  8. Use the action buttons at the foot of the page to Save or Submit the offer.

Cloning a current activity

Occasionally, you may want to Clone an activity that is in your Current View e.g. an ‘Offered’ or ‘Approved’ activity. For example, if you may be planning a series of short after-work walks in summer, with similar walk descriptions and gradings, and you want to minimise re-typing. Follow these steps:

  1. Activity Status
  2. Look down the list to find the activity you wish to Clone. The list is ordered by Start Date.
  3. Then follow steps 4 and onwards, as above.

Infrequently asked questions

Q. I am cloning an activity that had two leaders. I am now confident enough to lead this walk by myself, so for the cloned version, I want to remove the second Leader’s name. The System does not seem to allow me to delete Leader 2’s name.

A. In the Leader 2 name box, click the down arrow. It will display a list of leader names.  Use the slider bar at the right of the box to scroll to the top of the list. You will see the text ‘Select Name’ at the top. Hit ‘Select Name’. That will remove the second leader’s name.

Q. I want to Clone an activity, but I can’t find it in my Activity Status lists.

A. Here are a couple of things to try:

  • Try Select Activity View > All Activities > Search, and browse down the list
  • You may find it easier to search from the Home Page > What’s On. If you find the activity there, you will be able to note its date and browse your ‘Activity Status’ list by date.
