There can be many reasons for a Club walk/activity finishing later than expected. Sometimes it’s as simple as the group encountering more difficult scrub/terrain than they’d anticipated. Many walks are also in areas which are out of mobile phone range.
If you are worried about the late return of a family member (and it is now many hours later than they had planned to be home) then you can contact one of the Club’s Check-in Officers to see if they are aware of any reason for the delay. The Check-in Officers will decide whether to begin activating emergency procedures. Please note, however, that the ACT and/or NSW Emergency Services will not initiate any search or rescue activities until the next morning (unless a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) has been activated.)
If you are unable to contact one of the Check-in Officers in an emergency, please contact one of the Committee Members.
