Awarded Honorary Life Membership in 1965

Born in 1931, Geoff moved to Canberra in 1960, where he was instrumental in founding the CBC. He was involved, in the early 1960s with the National Parks Association, in the move to create a national park in the ACT. This became the Gudgenby Park and eventually the Namadgi Park.

Geoff was later successful in lobbying for the declaration of the first wilderness zones in Australia, at Kosciuszko and Kinchega near Broken Hill.  He was CEO of the Australian Conservation Foundation from 1973 to 1986.
