Example scenario

Helen Chan books on a walk as a Guest. She then applies for membership, choosing the option to send her membership fee by bank transfer. Her member record says ‘Unpaid’. The transferred money never arrives. The Membership Secretary emails her with occasional reminders over several months, but gets no response.

Options

The Membership Secretary can then either Reject her application which will trigger an email:

Hello Helen Chan

I regret to inform you that your application for membership was not accepted by the Club Committee.

Membership Secretary, Canberra Bushwalking Club

Or

The Membership Secretary can simply delete Helen’s membership record. No email is triggered. The record moves to ‘Past View’. Helen’s User Role remains as ‘Applicant’ with status ‘Deleted’.

Scenario continued

… the user’s payment ultimately arrives:

Out of the blue, Helen contacts the Membership Secretary with profuse apologies, she had inadvertently sent all emails from CBC to Spam, and she has now made the bank transfer.

Membership Secretary undeletes Helen’s record. Helen’s record then appears again in Current View, with User Role ‘Applicant’ and status ‘Received’ and the Membership Secretary can process it like any other application.
